Best Buddies is the largest organization in the world that aims to end social, physical, and economic isolation that around 200 million individuals with mental and developmental disabilities.  Mentors and volunteers help the members find friends, get a job with good conditions, improve public communication skills, and stand up for themselves. Soccer, biking, food, and fun are a perfect description of the atmosphere at the Best Buddies Challenge events, which have been held yearly for over 20 years.

Meaning and History

Eunice Kennedy Shriver’s work was continued by her children. In 1989, Anthony founded and has since headed Best Buddies International (BBI). He was inspired by his brother, David, who has an intellectual disability. It was first set up at Georgetown University as a campus-based program. It quickly grew beyond Georgetown, expanding to other college campuses across the country. Nowadays, it is not surprising to see Best Buddies in over 50 countries, as its mission is all about making a difference. Best Buddies International was officially incorporated in 1992. As the program expanded its geographical reach, so did it develop the program and activities for its members.

Best Buddies is a non-profit organization that was born in the USA and has spread across the world. It helps individuals with IDD break down social barriers, increase understanding and acceptance, and promote a more inclusive society. Its members learn how to live independently and feel valuable in the community they live in.

The logo is a visual representation of the name. At the center, two human figures are hugging or leaning on each other. This shows friendship opportunities and support that the organization offers. Behind them is a purple road with black dots. The latter can represent the hardships that one can overcome with the help of a friend. The illustration is done in bright colors and has a hand-drawn appearance, which makes the organization look appealing and approachable. It is framed as a picture. Above it, the logo has the name printed using a bold, rounded, handwritten font of a purple color. The overall design emphasizes connection, friendship, and community.

Font and Color

The choice of colors and shapes aims to be inclusive, positive, and welcoming. These include yellow, orange, purple, and a light shade of teal. The black color is used as an outline to make the other colors pop. The yellow stands for joy, positivity, intellect, warmth, and energy. The orange represents determination and success. Meanwhile, teal is typically associated with self-sufficiency and communication, as well as friendship. The bright colors also symbolize diversity and harmony.

The custom font featured in the logo uses bold, rounded strokes with a playful note. The characters look uneven and handwritten. It is similar in style to Cartoon Kid Fill font and Chelos font.
