Meaning and history

Florida Gulf Coast Eagles Logo history

The emblem features the lettering “FGCU” in an artistic and creative type. Instead of a regular horizontal line, the team opted for a line with a noticeable upward direction. Also, the Florida Gulf Coast Eagles logo includes the head of an eagle, which is placed above the text. The palette combines cobalt blue with emerald green.

2002 – 2022

Florida Gulf Coast Eagles Logo 2002

The older version of the Florida Gulf Coast Eagles athletic program was designed in 2002 and stayed untouched for almost twenty years. It was a bright composition in white, green, and blue, where intense colors were used just for the outlines of both the lettering and graphical parts. The badge was formed by a diagonally located uppercase “FGCU” abbreviation, accompanied by an image of an eagle’s head on top.

2022 – Today

Florida Gulf Coast Eagles Logo

The redesign of 2022 has kept the recognizable logo of Florida Gulf Coast Eagles almost untouched and only played with the shade of blue and green in the outline of the badge’s elements. Both shades became a bit lighter, which now lets us see the very thin golden additional lines inside. Another change was made to the eye of the Eagle, which turned white, making the bird look more realistic.

Basketball

The men’s team has competed in the NCAA Division I Tournament three times and has played in the NCAA Division II Tournament one time.

baseball

The FGCU baseball team made its first appearance in the NCAA Tournament in 2017. The university has three former baseball players who are now MLB pitchers.

Soccer

While the Eagles are among America’s youngest men’s soccer programs, they are also quite successful. The men’s team has been to the NCAA Tournament three times since 2007. The women’s team has played in the NCAA Tournament six times.
